The AnimaPlanet Setting & The Yarr System
A pen-and-paper RPG set in a world torn from Earth by cosmic catastrophe — where magic follows elemental law, civilizations span three ages of history, and every object gains a soul through use.
Playtest Edition — Coming 2026Billions of years ago, the Great Calamity tore a continent from Earth and cast it into a space between physical reality and myth. That continent became Vale — home to thirteen playable races, from the psychically-gifted Annu to the great-ape Pongo to the anthropomorphic Wuji.
The primary setting is the O’Pinne Sea — a chain of 21 island nations connected by trade, piracy, and ships that sail, swim, and fly. Beneath the waves, the Nommu’Ea maintain xenophobic underwater kingdoms with grown-coral cities and war-trained sea monsters. Above, fourteen factions vie for power across six distinct world zones, from tropical archipelagos to frozen tundra.
The signature mechanic: every object in Vale accrues a soul through sustained use. A sword carried through a hundred battles develops a personality. A ship sailed for years becomes a member of the crew. Your weapon levels up with you. Your cooking pan might become the most powerful artifact at the table.
Core rules, four pregenerated characters, and an introductory adventure.
Everything you need for your first session.
A Vale Beyond began life around 1997 as Concord — a stripped-down RPG designed with a couple of six-sided dice and three stats to let a group of friends escape their suburban surroundings. What started as five points on a character sheet grew into a complete transmedia universe: an original percentile system, seven volumes of worldbuilding, a bestiary, four novels, comic arcs, and a video game in active development.
The core rulebook is currently in print draft v1.4 — 8,800+ paragraphs, 377 tables, and 80 art placeholders awaiting illustration in a style between the Book of Kells and Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.
